Hi, I'm Damien and I own and run ComputerXplorers North West London, where I grew up and continue to live with my wife and two children. Operating throughout the Borough of Barnet and reaching into the Boroughs of Haringey, Brent and Camden, We pride ourselves in providing engaging & super-fun extra-curricular computing clubs at schools and other venues throughout North West London.
I've always been someone who loves learning, exploring new ideas, and sharing knowledge with others. Looking back over my career, it's clear that two themes have consistently shaped my journey: technology and teaching.
Prior to buying the franchise in 2020, for 15 years I worked for the UK's leading online supermarket and technology company, where I gained extensive experience working with a wide range of technologies, systems, and digital tools. I took on responsibilities that allowed me to develop my instructing, mentoring, and management skills. I particularly enjoyed helping colleagues understand new technologies, improve their skills, and gain confidence in their abilities. Seeing someone grasp a new concept, overcome a challenge, or develop a new skill brought me a genuine sense of satisfaction.
Before moving into the technology sector, I spent around 20 years immersed in the music industry as a DJ, sound engineer, and producer. It was an exciting and creative chapter of my life that saw me writing and producing music for advertising projects, working with a variety of clients, and eventually creating and producing my own album. The experience taught me not only technical and creative skills but also the importance of communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
If I could go back and change one thing, I would probably have pursued teaching much earlier. The ability to help others learn, grow, and achieve their potential is something I find incredibly rewarding. Teaching combines many of the things I value most: curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and human connection.
I believe that the most valuable skill any of us can develop is the ability to keep learning, and I am passionate about helping others discover that potential within themselves.
